Medical jurisprudence has been defined as that branch of state medicine which treats of the application of medical knowledge to certain questions of civil and criminal law. But they should assure themselves that they don't do a medical malpractice. Legal charges await for anybody who will do such malpractice.

Thanks for the basic "must haves" list to practice medicine in Texas. I think the same standard procedure is applicable to other states. Some even have more requirements aside from what you had mentioned. Heart Surgery

Signing up for a Medicare number (Texas) can seem like a daunting task. You'll have to do this before you will be able to sign-up with other insurers. This link will get you to all the forms you'll need to get moving (again this is Texas-specific; TrailBlazer is the carrier for Medicare in Texas):

Healthcare is undergoing change in Washington. President Obama would like to overhaul the current system to increase the number of insured Americans and to decrease the overall cost of healthcare. What effect will "Obama"care have on the way you practice medicine? Will you continue to practice medicine or consider an alternative career or early retirement?

Where are you located? In the San Antonio area, I have used Celeste Lira at Brin & Brin for contracts and practice buy-in issues.

Visit our Services Board to see a developing list of Attorneys nationwide. If you have used an attorney (or other service provider) that you would recommend to colleagues, please have your attorney post a listing on the Services Board. You can then provide a review for the attorney and recommend him/her to colleagues. This Board will grow to become a vital resource for all physicians.

Have you given in-office dispensing any thought?  http://www.physiciandispensingsolutions.com/Video_Presentation.html
We have several products that can help you generate additional income without having to see more patients or work longer hours.  If you treat workers compensation it's not uncommon for doctors to earn an additional $75,000 -  $200,000 annually just from dispensing.  If you like please visit our website and contact us if you would like to research options to bring in additional income to your practice.  I will be more than happy to talk with you or demo what we can do for you.

Protecting all that you have worked for is no laughing matter. Buying a large house will not protect your assets from a lawsuit. You may want to hire a lawyer with expertise in asset protection to help you create a strategy to shield your assets from unscrupulous individuals. There are also some good books on the topic. Check out: http://astutephysician.com/lifestyleinvestingbookstore.html (then plug in asset protection in the search box).

You can find a lawyer in your area on Astute Physician's Services for Medical Professionals site at http://astutephysician.com/index.php.

I beleive you must remember who you are to find happiness in your career.

Some will argue, what you do for a living is who you are.
I beg to differ. What you do for a "living" is really how you earn income for life expenses. Not who you are. Even though you may love your work.

To find happiness in a career you must have a balance between yourself and your work. Recognize and appreciate, that your work allows you to do other things.

So always try to do your work well and continue to evolve and perfect what you do and enhance all your talents.
